Hello Dreamers and welcome new friends! Today is Memorial Day here in the States and I wanted to create a card that reflected how I feel today. Words or a card can never really express how deeply thankful I am to those who gave their lives for us. My daughter's friend Jet Li and his Military Working Dog, my mom's cousin who was shot down over Vietnam, and so many who have taken their lives because PTSD couldn't allow them to leave the horrors of war behind them.
I am carrying on the theme of introducing you to the new In-Colors. And also hopping again with my Crafty Collaborations friends. Our theme for today is In-Colors! I chose to use the Starry Night, Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party.
My card seems more plain than my normal card, but I really wanted the sentiment to ring out. The DSP I used was from the new Annual Catalog. Perfectly Penciled DSP is a black and white 12' x 12" double sided paper meant to be used as is or colored.
This piece reminded me of poppies. I cut a piece and filled it in with the Stampin' Blends in Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party. Then I "fussy cut" the top. I love the look.
One of our new stamp sets, Splendid Thoughts, had the perfect sentiment. Stamped on a piece of Basic White the I die cut with my Stitched Rectangles dies, it shows up above the flowers.
On the inside bottom, I added a strip of the poppy paper with no coloring. If I had thought it through completely, I would have backed the front piece with the Starry Night to cover the back of the DSP! Next time.
I hope you enjoyed my card and thank you for stopping by. Now to hope and get more inspiration from my talented friends!
